Welcome to Lintle Community Awakening, a catalyst for development.

Lintle Community Awakening (Lintle) is a community based initiative operating from Tshwane. Lintle is registered with Department of Social Development as Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). CIPC as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and with SARS as Public Benefit Organisation (PBO). The latter registration allows us to issue tax certificates to all our donors (individual and/or corporate). This means that your donations are tax deductible.

Vision:

Successful, holistic, self driven and entrepreneurial South African communities

Mission:

  • To mobilize resources for self-reliance and sustainable community development initiatives at grassroots level
  • To strengthen the capacity of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) through training, coaching, mentoring and collaborative relationships/partnerships
  • To strengthen the capacity of community based institutions (including  family , community libraries and schools) through regular workshops or other activities and interventions as deemed appropriate.
  • Support grassroots entrepreneurship for sustainable generation of income and employment opportunities
  • To build responsible citizenship through common national values, leadership development and active participation in charitable initiatives

Lintle activities are largely inspired by the courage of thousands of South Africans (including the founding and current  members of Lintle) who are involved in community initiatives aimed at bringing change in their own lives and the lives of those around them. These men and women are involved in life changing tasks yet they are faced with unbelievable lack of meaningful support and have to in many cases make incredible personal sacrifices to fulfill the missions of their NPOs. Most of them are working for fulfillment and joy at seeing advancement of those who are benefiting from the services offered by their respective NPOs.

We at Lintle Community Awakening believe that all of us can be involved in making South Africa great for ALL who live in it. If each one can be the best we were created for and fulfill the purpose for which we were created, this belief would be realised. Hence we will keep running and “awakening giants in our communities…..beautifully”. If anyone has not started at becoming the best we say “you can begin NOW”. To him/her who has started we say “you can do MORE”.

As Disraeli said so many years ago: The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own

For us the time to start is always NOW. It is never too early or too late. For indeed “If you wait until you can do everything for everybody, instead of something for somebody, you’ll end up not doing anything for anybody.” ~ Malcom Bane

Premise:

A nation is as rich as it’s poorest member of it’s community!

Community Development must begin at grassroots level upward. Communities should create their own solutions and drive their own development. Community based initiatives are an excellent tool for national service delivery. They are a small but crucial means through which the NPOs contribute towards achievement of National Development Plans. These initiatives are usually birthed by individuals who live in the same community and are intimately in touch with existing community needs, challenges, resources, opportunities and possible solutions. Creating solutions at community level presents the best chances for collective ownership, success and meaningful results.

National Calendar Days

We have selected some National Calendar days that celebrate and/or commemorate events that are closest to our mission and vision. We celebrate those days by giving out to the community in various ways or holding events.

Entrepreneurship

To this end we have trained several groups of people who were keen to form trading coops. We have met with various challenges including internal fights within the coops even before they began trading. However, we are NOT about to give up on this initiative.
