ABOUT US
Lintle Community Awakening (Lintle) is a Community Development NPO with a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status. She is a Charity organisation through which acts of kindness, empowerment, advancement and restoration are birthed and/or enhanced in the community, at grassroots level. Lintle is a catalyst of development and performance at work place.
Lintle is a Sesotho word that means beautiful, beneficial, good deeds. The word “Lintle” as used in the name of the NPO is specifically taken out of a Sesotho hymn. The composer of the hymn expresses awe for what God has done for him. He begins with an effort to remember the goodness of God in his life but realises that His good deeds are too many to be recounted. He gives up by accepting this fact:
Lintle tsa hau ha li baloe, ke u leboha ke hona. Rato la Hau le rorisoe ke bana ba hau kaofela
(Your deeds of goodness are too numerous to count; therefore, I am thankful. May your children live in praise of your love.)
Below is the interpretation and unpacking of the hymn by the founder of Lintle Community Awakening:
I see your goodness in me, God, and I want my life on earth to reflect your goodness to an extent that all who are touched by it will live in awe of your love too.
Therefore, Lintle Community Awakening seeks to extend the goodness of the Lord to ALL individuals and communities which the NPO will interact with.
Lintle activities are largely inspired by the courage of thousands of South Africans (including the founding and current members of Lintle) who are involved in community initiatives aimed at bringing change in their own lives and the lives of those around them. These men and women are involved in life changing tasks yet they are faced with unbelievable lack of meaningful support and have to in many cases make incredible personal sacrifices to fulfill the missions of their NPOs. Most of them are working for fulfillment and joy at seeing advancement of those who are benefiting from the services offered by their respective NPOs.
We at Lintle Community Awakening believe that all of us can be involved in making South Africa great for ALL who live in it. If each one can be the best we were created for and fulfill the purpose for which we were created, this belief would be realised. Hence we will keep running and “awakening giants in our communities…..beautifully”. If anyone has not started at becoming the best we say “you can begin NOW”. To him/her who has started we say “you can do MORE”.
